Title - Sacred Orchid 2020 (NFS) Concrete, Steel
Orchids are frequently linked to sensuality and allure because of their exotic and captivating appearance. They are renowned for their intricate and distinct shapes that often bear a resemblance to delicate forms found in nature. Additionally, their sweet and musky fragrance is believed to possess aphrodisiac qualities.

Laterite is the source of Bauxite. The entire Southwest of Western Australia has been pegged by mining companies to be mined for the Bauxite.
Story This depicts how the Aluminium miners are burning their way through our precious forest resources to dig up the Laterite. Laterite rests from ground level to four and five meters. The topsoil level in the Southern Jarrah forest is very shallow. To fully rehabilitate these minded areas is near impossible as the clay bed that is exposed has minimum nutrients. Removing the gravel strips the water retention capability of the root base.

Google Rainbow Tree they do exist. Native to the Phillipines and Papua New Guinea they grow into a massive Tree. They have been planted in Northern Queensland. The pewter cast insects that inhabit this tree were developed as learning aids for the blind in 1990. Kim discovered a technique to realistically reproduce the insects and worked with members of the WA Blind Association.

A style unique to Kim which had its beginning 40 years ago in a drawing style that he continues to use today. Kim calls this style 'Organic Cubism' which seems to be a unique description used by Kim since the early 1080's.
Umberto Boccioni created a style of sculpture around 1910 which was called 'Futurism'. His paintings and sculptures were truly the birth of Cubism. Though Picasso seems to be the originator of Cubism I believe the Art world has it all wrong.
It is time to rewrite all of the Art history books and give credit where it is due to Umberto Boccioni.

The shadows that these forms create is remarkable. One must visit the park at night as this piece in particular comes alive with shadow.
